Habitat

Found across multiple habitat types including tropical and subtropical moist broadleaf forests, tropical and subtropical dry broadleaf forests, and tropical and subtropical grasslands and savannas, among 4 distinct biome types spanning the Australasia and Indomalayan realms. Populations are also found in montane and highland environments at higher elevations.

NitrosotaleaはThaumarchaeota門に属するアンモニア酸化古細菌の属で、ほとんどの他の硝化微生物が生存できない酸性条件下で硝化を行う能力で区別される。この属の種は世界中の酸性土壌で検出されており、低pH生息地の窒素循環における重要だが過小評価されている役割を示唆する。属は農業土壌からタイプ種の培養に続いて確立された。
