ミドリユミハチドリ

中央アメリカとアンデス北部の湿潤雨林に生息する大型の隠遁ハチドリで、ミドリオナガハチドリは雄の主に緑色の羽毛から名付けられています。これは一般的に茶色とタン色の隠遁ハチドリ類では珍しい特徴です。雌は青緑色の上面と赤褐色の下面を持ちます。標高最大1,600メートルの森林下層でコスタリカからペルーとベネズエラにかけて分布します。確立されたトラップライン経路に沿って森林床の大型ヘリコニアやカラテア花の重要な送粉者として機能します。

キバラユミハチドリ

ペルー・エクアドル・コロンビアのアンデス山麓湿潤林に生息する大型ハーミットハチドリ（Phaethornis syrmatophorus）で、温かみのある黄褐色の下面と緑青銅色の上面が対照をなし、長く大きく湾曲した嘴を持つ。標高300〜1,500mの山地林下層で見られる。すべての大型ハーミットと同様に、広く分散した花を繋ぐ「トラップライン」採餌ルートを辿る。雄は伝統的なレック場所に集まり、大きく反復的な鳴き声でメスを引き付ける。
