Macbrideola corneaはLiceales目に属する小型の変形菌で、腐植植物素材や樹皮上に小型の有柄胞子嚢を形成する。胞子嚢は象牙色から淡色で、堅い外皮を持つ。他の変形菌と同様に、細菌や菌類胞子を消費することで森林の栄養循環に役割を果たす。
