Geopora arenicola は淡色で毛の多い外表面と滑らかな内表面を持つ小型の地下〜半地下のコップ菌で砂質土壌に生育する。温帯ヨーロッパの海岸砂丘・砂礫地・乾燥草地の砂質で排水良好な土壌に生息し、栄養不足の砂質基質の有機物を分解する外生菌根または腐生菌類である。

Geopora tenuis はPyronemataceae科の地下または半地下のコップ菌で準絶滅危惧(NT)と評価されている。森林生息地の土壌表面またはすぐ下で薄壁の目立たない子実体を形成する。準絶滅危惧の状態は未攪乱の成熟した森林土壌への依存を反映している可能性がある。
