フォークテールウッドニンフ(Thalurania furcata)は深く二叉に分かれた尾にちなんで名付けられた鮮やかな南米のハチドリで、雄は輝く紫青色の喉と緑色の上面、深い青色の分岐した外側尾羽を持つ。アンデス東側のベネズエラ・コロンビアからボリビア・ブラジルまでの熱帯林に広く分布する。蜜源資源をめぐって他のハチドリを積極的に追い払い、アマゾンや大西洋岸の森林の多様な花植物の重要な授粉者となっている。
