Fomitopsis officinalis はFomitopsidaceae科の多孔菌で絶滅危惧(EN)と評価されている。特にカラマツなどの古い針葉樹に大型で多年生の白亜白色の子実体を形成し、古代から薬用として使用されてきた。絶滅危惧の状態は、分布域内の老齢針葉樹林の深刻な減少を反映している。
