コロンビア、エクアドル、パナマの湿潤なアンデス森林に生息する小型の緑色ハチドリで、パフレッグ属 Haplophaedia の全種に共通する、足根部の羽毛の房である白いふわふわした足の毛玉にちなんで名付けられました。標高800〜2,100メートルの林縁や二次林に生息し、林床の小型花植物で蜜を採取します。IUCNレッドリストで軽度懸念(LC)に分類され、分布域全体にわたって個体群は比較的安定しています。
