It is a cosmopolitan pest species associated with a wide range of host plants across virtually all terrestrial habitats where cultivated trees and shrubs are present. The species infests the bark, leaves, and fruit of numerous hosts, including citrus, palms, figs, and ornamental plants, by piercing plant tissue and extracting sap.
