It inhabits temperate European forest floors, woodland margins, and grassy clearings, fruiting in autumn among leaf litter and humus. The fruiting body presents the characteristic Clitocybe form with a depressed to funnel-shaped pale cap, decurrent gills, and cylindrical stipe.
