ワキジロハナサシミツドリ

コロンビアからボリビアにかけてのアンデス雲霧林と林縁に生息する中型のハナツキドリで、Diglossa albilatera は濃灰青色の羽毛と対照的な特徴的な白い脇腹班を持つ。すべてのハナツキドリと同様に、鋭く鈎状で僅かに上向きのくちばしで管状の花の基部を突き刺し、受粉せずに蜜を盗むことから「蜜泥棒」として知られる。標高1,500〜3,500メートルで見られ、アンデスの庭や林縁でよく目撃される。
