Trechispora hymenocystisは腐朽木上に薄い白色の被殻を形成する背着型皮殻状菌である。倒木や広葉樹・針葉樹の枝で生育し、温帯および亜寒帯林に生息する。この腐生菌は白色腐朽過程を通じて木質有機物を分解する。
