Found across multiple habitat types including tropical and subtropical moist broadleaf forests, tropical and subtropical dry broadleaf forests, and tropical and subtropical grasslands and savannas, among 11 distinct biome types. Populations are also found in montane and highland environments at higher elevations.

Novosphingobium lindaniclastaicumは、残留性有機塩素農薬であるリンデンを分解する能力にちなんで命名されたグラム陰性桿菌である。リンデン汚染土壌および廃水環境から単離されている。この特化した細菌は農耕地土壌の塩素化農薬汚染の生物浄化において重要な関心対象である。
