Laminariocolax tomentosoides はEctocarpales目に属する微細な褐藻で、コンブなどの大型褐藻の組織内に内生的に寄生する。宿主の皮層細胞内に分岐した糸状体のフェルト状層を形成し、茶色の変色や組織損傷を引き起こすことがある。軽度懸念と評価されており、温帯の岩礁海岸に広く分布する。
