Cladonia symphycarpaは、Cladonia の特徴である小さく平らな葉状体と赤い子器を持つ固着性〜鱗状地衣類です。温帯ヨーロッパの草原や開放生息地の石灰質土壌や岩石地帯に生育します。この地衣類は極めて稀少とされており、草地の放棄と集約化による生息地の消失に対して脆弱です。
