翼の雨覆いに青銅色の光沢を持つ、暗いすす色がかった茶色と青紫色の羽毛を持つ、ずんぐりとした特徴的なピオヌスオウムであるブロンズウィングパロット（Pionus chalcopterus）は、コロンビア、エクアドル、ペルー、ベネズエラの標高最大2,500メートルの湿潤なアンデス森林に生息します。ピオヌス種の中で最も色鮮やかではありませんが、最も魅力的な種の一つで、飼育時の静かで愛情深い性格で知られています。ペアと小さな群れで山岳森林の果実、果物、種を食べます。
