コロンビアからボリビアにかけてのアンデス山岳林に生息する中〜大型ハチドリであるエリマキインカハチドリは、幅広の白い胸帯と飛翔時によく見える白い尾斑を持つ、目を引く黒白の羽衣を持ちます。海抜1,700〜3,200メートルの森林と森林縁に生息し、様々な花植物で採食し、アンデスの大型花低木や樹木の重要な花粉媒介者です。対照的な白い尾斑はホバリング飛翔中に目立って点滅し、種の識別を助けます。
