アウラコセイラ・イスランジカ(Aulacoseira islandica)は亜寒帯・北極・高山の寒冷貧栄養〜中栄養湖に生育する強健な糸状中心目珪藻類で、顕著な連結棘で結合した円筒状細胞の長い連鎖を形成する。冬季から春季の氷下でも旺盛に生育し、寒冷水域の植物プランクトン群集の重要な構成種である。湖の季節ダイナミクスや水質の指標種として環境モニタリングに活用される。
