アウラコセイラ・ディスタンス（Aulacoseira distans）は北半球の亜寒帯〜温帯の貧栄養〜中栄養の湖沼・池に生育する糸状の中心目珪藻類で、細胞縁辺のとげで連結した長い連鎖を形成する。光合成を行うことで湖沼の一次生産に貢献する植物プランクトンとして、寒冷で栄養の乏しい清澄な湖の生態系において重要な役割を果たす。珪藻殻は地層に保存されやすく、古環境・古気候の指標生物として古生態学的に利用される。
