Pontibacter korlensisは中国新疆ウイグル自治区コルラ近郊の塩分土壌から最初に単離されたグラム陰性オレンジ色色素の細菌である。中央アジアの乾燥した砂漠土壌と塩分のある陸上環境に生息する。この好気性化学有機栄養生物はカロテノイド色素を産生し、極端な乾燥および塩分条件に適応している。
