アスペルギルス・ニガー(Aspergillus niger)は世界中の土壌・腐敗有機物・室内環境に広く分布する黒色分生子のカビで、密集した黒色分生子頭が肉眼的な識別形質である。熱帯・亜熱帯・温帯の広域に分布する腐生菌で、有機物の分解者として機能する一方、クエン酸・各種酵素の商業的生産に利用される重要な産業微生物でもある。一部の状況では果物・農産物の腐敗を引き起こす植物病原菌としての側面も持つ。
