Dictyota dichotomは、繰り返し二叉分岐する平らなオリーブ緑色から黄褐色の葉状体が広い扇形を形成する一般的な褐藻類である。世界の温帯から熱帯の海の潮間帯や浅い潮下帯の岩礁に生息する。この光合成大型藻類は付着根を介して岩に固着し、有性生殖と無性生殖の両方が可能である。
