Achroonema lentumは淡水生息地において緩慢に増殖する無色の糸状体を形成する、粘液細菌あるいは藻類様微生物である。冷涼で栄養の乏しい清水渓流や湧水に生息する。溶存および粒状有機物を分解し、代謝速度は低い。
