<em>Eriophyllum lanatum</em>, the common woolly sunflower or Oregon sunshine, is a perennial herbaceous plant in the family Asteraceae. It is native to western North America, ranging from British Columbia south through Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and California, where it grows in dry, open habitats including rocky slopes, meadows, sagebrush steppe, and open conifer forests. The species is characterized by its distinctive silvery-white woolly foliage, produced by dense trichomes that reflect sunlight and help reduce water loss in arid conditions. Bright yellow daisy-like flower heads, typically 2–4 cm across, are borne on slender stems from late spring through summer. Plants typically reach 15–60 cm in height and spread as low mounds. Biological traits such as precise average lifespan, body measurements, and population data remain poorly documented in consolidated literature. <em>Eriophyllum lanatum</em> is ecologically important as a nectar source for native bees, butterflies, and other pollinators in dry western ecosystems. It is also commonly cultivated as a drought-tolerant ornamental plant. The species has not been formally evaluated for conservation status by the IUCN but is considered broadly stable across its native range.
