Tangara à cape bleue
A brilliantly colored Andean tanager with deep purplish-blue mantle and chestnut flanks contrasting with black face and wings, purplish-mantled tanagers inhabit humid cloud forest and forest edges at elevations of 1,000–2,200 meters in Colombia and Ecuador. Males display strikingly iridescent purple mantle plumage that shimmers in canopy light. They inhabit forest interior and edge in pairs and small groups, foraging on fruit and insects.
