Dryade à queue fourchue
A brilliantly colored South American hummingbird named for its deeply forked tail, fork-tailed woodnymphs display glittering violet-blue gorget and green upper parts in males, with deep blue forked outer tail feathers. They are widespread in tropical forests east of the Andes from Venezuela and Colombia to Bolivia and Brazil. Highly aggressive territory defenders, they chase other hummingbirds from nectar sources.
