Es un organismo deslizante en forma de bacilo adaptado a la vida en asociacion con invertebrados marinos huespedes. Los miembros del genero Tenacibaculum estan ampliamente distribuidos en ambientes marinos y algunas especies son conocidas como patogenos de peces.
