Rhizobium laguerreae es una alfaproteobacteria fijadora de nitrogeno de la familia Rhizobiaceae capaz de formar nodulos radicales simbolicos en diversas especies de leguminosas. Fija nitrogeno atmosferico a cambio de carbono organico suministrado por la planta hospedadora, contribuyendo a la fertilidad del suelo y reduciendo la necesidad de fertilizantes nitrogenados sinteticos. La especie fue nombrada en honor a la microbiologa Dra. Laguerre.

Habitat & Distribution

Native to Asia, inhabiting ecosystems characteristic of the region.
