Porpidia flavicunda es un liquen costroso con un talo areolado de color amarillo palido a gris-verdoso que porta aposemas lecideinos oscuros sobre roca silicica. Habita paredes rocosas acidas expuestas, bolones y muros de piedra en ambientes templados y de montana. Este liquen desgasta lentamente su sustrato mineral y contribuye a la colonizacion de superficies rocosas.

Native to Europe, inhabiting ecosystems characteristic of the region.
