Un pinzón pequeño y esbelto de la familia Estrildidae, el silverbill indio (Euodice malabarica) habita matorrales secos, pastizales y zonas agrícolas en todo el sur de Asia, desde Pakistán a través de la India hasta Sri Lanka. Se reconoce por su pico plateado-blanco, el dorso marrón y las partes inferiores blancas. Muy gregario, se reúne en bandadas para alimentarse de semillas de gramíneas. Construye nidos esféricos cerrados y es un popular pájaro de aviario por su naturaleza dócil y social y su agradable y suave canto.
