Coltricia confluens es un políporo estipitado de color marrón con zonas concéntricas en la superficie del sombrero aterciopelado y un delgado tallo central, a veces fusionándose con sombreros adyacentes. Crece en suelos arenosos en bosques abiertos de coníferas y mixtos en regiones templadas y boreales. Este hongo ectomicorrízico forma asociaciones de intercambio de nutrientes con las raíces de los árboles, particularmente pinos y robles.
