About

Uno de los loros Pionus más coloridos; los loros cabeciaazules muestran una vívida cabeza y cuello azul cobalto que contrasta con el plumaje verde del cuerpo y las plumas rojas bajo la cola. Se encuentran en bosques húmedos de tierras bajas y estribaciones desde el sur de México a través de Centroamérica y todo el norte y oeste de América del Sur. Habitan bosques, bordes forestales y manglares, viajando en bandadas ruidosas hacia árboles en fructificación. Son aves de aviario populares por su temperamento tranquilo y gentil.
