Staphylococcus saccharolyticus es un coco grampositivo coagulasa-negativo de la familia Staphylococcaceae, presente en la piel y las membranas mucosas de humanos y animales. Es una especie anaerobia o microaerofilica capaz de fermentar azucares, rasgo poco comun en el genero Staphylococcus. Como organismo comensal, contribuye a la microbiota normal de los hospedadores mamiferos.
