Sclerotinia borealis es un hongo patogeno de la familia Sclerotiniaceae que causa la enfermedad del moho de nieve en gramineas y cereales de grano pequeno en climas frios. Se desarrolla a temperaturas ligeramente superiores al punto de congelacion bajo una cubierta de nieve persistente, formando esclerocios negros caracteristicos que persisten en el suelo entre estaciones.
