Habita en bosques de laurel humedos y zonas de niebla costera de las Islas Canarias y el archipielago macaronesico. Este liquen obtiene energia a traves de su componente algal fotosintético y es sensible a los cambios de habitat por deforestacion y variaciones climaticas.
