El canguro rojo (Macropus rufus) es el canguro mas grande y el marsupial mas grande de la Tierra. Puede alcanzar 2 metros de altura y pesar 90 kg, habitando las regiones aridas y semiaridas del interior de Australia. Altamente adaptado a las duras condiciones del desierto, puede sobrevivir largos periodos sin beber agua extrayendo la humedad de la vegetacion. Sus potentes patas traseras le permiten dar saltos de 9 metros y alcanzar velocidades de hasta 70 km/h. Los machos participan en combates rituales de boxeo para competir por las hembras.
