Nostoc calcicola es una cianobacteria filamentosa fijadora de nitrogeno que forma colonias gelatinosas de color verde oscuro a negruzco sobre superficies de roca calcarea humeda, suelo y muros de piedra. Se distribuye en regiones templadas y mediterraneas, especialmente en habitats humedos con sustratos ricos en calcio. Clasificada como Vulnerable, esta especie esta amenazada por la perdida de habitat, el desarrollo urbano y la degradacion de sus microhabitats en roca calcarea.

Tigre
