Lysobacter brunescens es una bacteria gramnegativa con desplazamiento por deslizamiento que produce pigmentos parduzcos que la distinguen dentro de su género. Habita entornos de suelo y ha sido aislada de diversos sustratos terrestres. Esta bacteria lítica degrada otros microorganismos mediante enzimas extracelulares, contribuyendo al ciclo de nutrientes en el suelo.
