Populations are also found in montane and highland environments at higher elevations.

La tortuga verde (Chelonia mydas) es una de las tortugas marinas más grandes. Su nombre proviene del color verde de su cartílago y grasa, no del caparazón.
Pseudoxanthomonas mexicana es una bacteria gramnegativa aislada por primera vez en Mexico, perteneciente a la familia Xanthomonadaceae. Habita en suelos y posiblemente en ambientes asociados a plantas, donde puede desempenyar funciones en la descomposicion de materia organica. Los miembros de este genero son conocidos por la produccion de pigmentos amarillos y diversas enzimas hidroliticas.
