La tortuga verde (Chelonia mydas) es una de las tortugas marinas más grandes. Su nombre proviene del color verde de su cartílago y grasa, no del caparazón.
Nitzschia modesta es una pequena diatomea penada de la familia Bacillariaceae que habita entornos de agua dulce a ligeramente salobre. Su frustulo alargado con rafe sigmoideo es caracteristico del extenso y ecologicamente diverso genero Nitzschia. Como microalga bentica o epiiftica, contribuye a las comunidades de biofilm sobre superficies sumergidas.
