La tortuga verde (Chelonia mydas) es una de las tortugas marinas más grandes. Su nombre proviene del color verde de su cartílago y grasa, no del caparazón.
Nitzschia graciliformis es una diatomea penada delgada con forma de aguja, presente en habitats acuaticos de agua dulce y salobre, incluyendo arroyos, lagos y aguas costeras de todo el mundo. Su frustulo siliceo alargado posee un sistema de rafe distintivo a lo largo de un lado, lo que le permite desplazarse mediante deslizamiento.
