Cristinia helvetica es un hongo basidiomiceto resupinado que forma parches delgados de color blanquecino a crema en la parte inferior de troncos y ramas de madera dura en descomposición. Se encuentra en bosques templados europeos y actúa como descomponedor de madera, degradando el material lignocelulósico. La especie contribuye al ciclado de nutrientes forestales y a la ecología del hábitat de madera muerta.
