Typically found in forest floors, decomposing wood, and soil ecosystems.
Distributed across Denmark, Norway, and Sweden.

Found across multiple habitat types including tropical and subtropical moist broadleaf forests, tropical and subtropical dry broadleaf forests, and tropical and subtropical coniferous forests, among 4 distinct biome types spanning the Australasia and Indomalayan realms. Populations are also found in montane and highland environments at higher elevations.

Coprinopsis pseudofriesii es un pequeño hongo tinta emparentado con el hongo tinta alargado, con un sombrero gris pálido que se licua al madurar. Crece en suelos muy orgánicos, compost viejo y cerca de restos leñosos enterrados en bosques templados. Este hongo saprotrófico descompone la materia orgánica y el material leñoso en su hábitat de suelo forestal.
