Schizothrix lateritia es una cianobacteria filamentosa de la familia Microchaetaceae que forma tapetes pardo-rojizos sobre suelos, rocas y otras superficies en ambientes humedos o semiaridos. Contiene multiples tricomas dentro de una vaina comun y participa en la formacion de biocostras y en la produccion primaria. Su estado de conservacion no esta evaluado.
