Bitrichia chodatii es una crisofita loricada (alga dorada) del orden Chromulinales, que forma una lorica distintiva con dos o más espinas proyectadas que la anclan a superficies sumergidas u otras algas. Habita lagos de agua dulce oligotróficos y claros, donde contribuye a las comunidades fitoplanctónicas como flagelado fotosintético. Nombrada en honor al botánico Robert Chodat, es característica de lagos alpinos y boreales frescos y con pocos nutrientes.
