Like other skates, <em>Dentiraja australis</em> is a bottom-dwelling elasmobranch that typically inhabits soft sediment seafloors, where it lies partially buried and ambushes benthic prey. They typically feed on a variety of bottom-dwelling invertebrates and small fish, using their flattened body shape and pectoral fins to maneuver close to the seafloor.
