Nordischer Schwamm-Porling

Climacocystis borealis is a bracket fungus producing overlapping, pale cream to whitish fruiting bodies on the trunks of conifers, particularly spruce and fir, in boreal and montane forests. It causes a white rot, decomposing the wood of living and dead trees. This species is classified as Endangered, threatened by the loss of old-growth coniferous forests and intensive logging practices.
