<em>Thuidium tamariscinum</em>, the common tamarisk moss, is a pleurocarpous bryophyte in the family Thuidiaceae, recognized by its elegant, tripinnately branched fronds resembling miniature fern fronds. It is widely distributed across Europe, Canada, the United States, and Brazil, typically growing in moist, shaded woodlands, hedgebanks, and grasslands on a variety of substrates including soil, rocks, and decaying logs. This moss forms dense, spreading mats and is among the most conspicuous ground-cover mosses in temperate forests. It is classified as Least Concern on the IUCN Red List, reflecting its broad distribution and tolerance of varied habitat conditions. Like all mosses, <em>Thuidium tamariscinum</em> lacks true roots, absorbing water and nutrients directly through leaf surfaces. It reproduces via spores and vegetative fragmentation.
