Cobb's wren is closely related to the house wren complex but represents a distinct island lineage adapted to maritime conditions. Its distribution is restricted to the outer islands of the Falklands, as introduced rats and cats have extirpated it from most inhabited islands and the two main islands where introduced predators are present.
