Achroonema gotlandicum is a colorless, filamentous bacterium in the order Achroonematales, originally described from the brackish waters of the Baltic Sea near Gotland. It forms slender, non-pigmented trichomes in oxygen-depleted stratified water columns. As a chemoheterotrophic organism, it participates in the microbial cycling of organic matter in anoxic aquatic zones.
