Sphingobacterium cladoniae is a Gram-negative, rod-shaped bacterium first isolated from the lichen Cladonia. It inhabits lichen thalli and associated substrates in temperate and boreal environments. This bacterium may play roles in nutrient cycling within the lichen microbiome, degrading organic compounds from algal and fungal lichen components.

Sphingobacterium siyangense is a gram-negative, aerobic bacterium in the family Sphingobacteriaceae, first isolated from soil in Siyang, China. Members of this genus are environmental bacteria important in soil ecology and nutrient cycling. Its conservation status is not evaluated.
